Job Description: The Global Trade Compliance Specialist will provide technical expertise and guidance to the team to ensure the business meets regulatory and local compliance requirements and communicates within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures. Candidates must be able to work effectively with a cross-functional team to keep Narda-MITEQ in compliance with the regulations while also helping to foster international growth within the business. Strong knowledge of ITAR and EAR regulations and broad knowledge of project management. Manages complex projects and processes with minimal oversight. Makes substantial improvement to systems and processes. Contributes to achievement of departmental goals and operation plans with direct impact on the departmental results.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interpret International Trade Regulations and apply them as necessary
  • Provide guidance and requirements to Narda-MITEQ employees concerning Global Trade Compliance regulations
  • Ensure proper use of export authorizations (licenses/agreements, exemptions, exceptions, etc.)
  • Determine and document classification designation for parts, equipment, and technology
  • Complete required recordkeeping
  • Maintains knowledge of and stays current on regulatory changes
  • Review contracts for global trade requirements
  • Oversee the completion of corrective actions, to include tracking, validating, reporting on, and closing corrective actions
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements
  • Assist with responses to government or inquiries on ITAR, EAR, Customs, and other trade related matters
  • Contribute to the development of, policies and procedures, trainings, and communications related to trade compliance issues
  • Conduct reviews of potential Export Controlled Information (Technical Data/Technology) to determine the export rating/classification of documents and commodities
  • Assist with the execution of special projects related to compliance matters
  • Responsible for all EAR and ITAR compliance and license authorizations related to various programs while working closely with security, sales, supply chain, engineering, and operations to develop ITC strategies, facilitate, analyze, authorize, and assess compliance of export activities performed under U.S. export and import laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Strong proficiency in International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
  • Proficient in OFAC Regulations and Foreign Trade Regulations
  • Proficient in product classification both domestic and international to include EAR and ITAR
  • Background or experience within defense industry
  • Acute attention to detail as well as the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Critical thinking and excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter with strong organizational, time management, planning and follow-through capabilities.
  • Must have high energy, good interpersonal skills, communication, and presentation skills with strong leadership skills.
  • Must meet the ITAR definition of a “US Person”
  • Eligibility to obtain a US Security Clearance is desired

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with OCR EASE
  • Experience conducting/documenting Order of Reviews
  • Experience conducting Jurisdiction Classification
  • Strong investigative skills with prior experience investigating ITAR and EAR matters
  • Subject matter expertise in understanding government regulations with primary focus on ITAR and EAR requirement
  • The ability to coordinate simultaneous activities, and successfully prioritize multiple tasks with good judgment

Please be aware many of our positions require the ability to obtain a security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
